Trine 2 confirmed for PC/PSN/XBLA

Due out next spring.

Finnish developer Frozenbyte has announced that the sequel to its platform puzzle game Trine is due out next year.

Unlike the original, Trine 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Frozenbyte has said to expect it in spring.

The original game saw players take control of three characters - a thief, a knight and a wizard - each with their own special abilities that came in handy solving puzzles.

The sequel promises online and offline co-operative play and "new gameplay features and improvements", obviously.

"For example, the Wizard's levitated objects will retain their kinetic energy, so they can be hurled towards enemies, making the Wizard a lot more adept at combat, and the Thief gets a new time slow ability which will be very useful in certain puzzles," the devs explained.

Also, according to the announcement trailer, there are 500 per cent more rainbows and a greedy frog. Get stuck in.

Yay for online co-op play, this game was obviously crying out for it before, and would have sold an awful lot more if they had sorted it out.

Looking forward to this now. :)

\o/ The first one is so good, the first game I bought when I finally got round to buying a PS3, nice to see it's coming to 360 as well.

The sequel to 2009's best Australian railway simulator (and 2009's best tagline).

Excellent, the first one was good fun. I hope they sort out the camera this time for the local multiplayer though. Maybe give the player a few camera options?

Also the game was very glitchy in some parts when I tried to get some of the later trophies. Was pretty gutted when I completed it on the hardest difficulty for example and nothing happened.

Excellent; I adore the first game and really look forward to this. I only wish more full releases had the style and character of Trine. What an underrated gem.

Sweet Jesus and all that is good in this world, I wish this was a full retail release game! I only play offline but this game is beautiful. I would pay $30-40 for this game as long as it was at least 4 hours long. I am totally bummed for myself, but happy to see these kinds of games coming out.
