Red Wii confirmed for UK

Special edition Mario DSi also incoming.

The special edition red Mario Wii revealed last week will arrive in UK stores on 29th October, Nintendo has confirmed, two weeks before it goes on sale in Japan.

Official Nintendo Magazine reports that the pack will include a red Wii, a red Wii Remote Plus, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports and a preloaded copy of the original NES Donkey Kong.

This differs slightly from the Japanese bundle, which comes with Super Mario Bros. rather than Donkey Kong.

Nintendo also confirmed that a limited edition red DSi XL with Mario branding on its shell will launch in the UK on 22nd October. That will come packaged with New Super Mario Bros.

And Mario's birthday celebrations don't end there. On 3rd December you can pick up Super Mario All-Stars: 25th Anniversary Edition for the Wii, which comes with a CD soundtrack and retrospective booklet.

Red Wii? Doesn't that indicate a problem with the urinary tract? ;)

Nintendo, forever baffling, why doesn't it have SMB?!? Donkey Kong was 29 years ago, and he wasn't even called Mario then.

They obviously saw the Wii icon on here and stole the idea.

Will they provide a method of migrating your existing Wii to the red one, online purchases, Miis, scores and all that?

Because if not, then I can't see many existing owners buying it.

This is a serious question too, if someone at EG is reading, it'd be nice if you could get Nintendo to clarify this.

Double bollocks - a) I only just caved and bought a DSi (on top of phat and lite I already own) and b) I would've been tempted to get a bedroom Wii if it had the dodgy 25th anniversary Mario Bros rom hack :(

Would a red xbox be considered bad taste?

Just out of curiosity, why Wii Sports and not Wii Sports Resort?

Just out of curiosity, why Wii Sports and not Wii Sports Resort?

Probably because Wii Sports cannot be bought seperately here and if you want it there would be no way to get it if you bought the new bundle. Unless it's being sold seperately now, I don't know.

I really hope that Nintendo comes up with a clever and easy way to transfer everything to a new Wii. Personally I will not get one because I really don't like red gadgets but for people actually considering I really hope that they won't lose everything they bought in the Wii Store.
