No Minerva's Den for PC BioShock 2
Protector Trials scrapped too.
PC BioShock 2 users will not get to play the recent Minerva's Den DLC expansion, or the Protector Trials pack, 2K Marin has announced.
In a post on the 2K forums, a spokesperson for the studio said, "We will not be offering Protector Trials and Minerva's Den on the PC in the future – and I want to say that I'm sorry for the disappointment this will cause to PC players out there."
Vague "timing and technical issues" were the only excuses offered.
The bad news doesn't end there. "We will not be adding vending machine sounds into any version of BioShock 2 and we will not be adding playlists for the multiplayer DLC maps," the post goes on to explain.
"We are planning patches for the 360 and PS3 to fix some functionality issues, but they will not drastically change gameplay."
Minerva's Den launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last month, with Protector's Trials arriving back in August.
Looks like PC gamers' next BioShock fix will be BioShock Infinite, due some time in 2012.

(sniff)
EDIT: 18:15 09/10/10
okay, you've said it, and theres no going back. Youve treated us real unfair! It hurts. Were not happy but most of us are grown up enough to go on living day by day, but if your reading this i think you at least owe us an explanation. An honest one for dumping us like that.

This was quite possibly the first paid for DLC in the history of this stuff that I was actually interested in buying. Guess I'll be giving my flower to another publisher. But don't worry 2K, I won't be telling everyone that you can't get it up.

What a waste of my time and expectations
2K...you'll have to fight much harder for my money next time. No Day 1 purchases.

Still done now, Valve may be dangling its scrotum into the pirahna-filled waters of the PS3 but they tend to give their maps out for free. Various other games also update with free maps. They range from meh to awesome, so consistant quality has always been a question mark over its head but that said, free.
I don't mind DLC as long as it isn't milking it and as long as everyone gets a fair shot at it. 2K fails on both counts, so I say to them... "Would you kindly kiss my ass?"

Are they supposed to make noises, but for some reason, presumably a bug or missing sound file, they're silent, or what?
If so, then that's pretty sloppy, and admitting that you're not going to be fixing it just sounds like they can't be asked to me to be honest, it's like they've got our money now, so naff off.
Hmph...

There are no sound clips whatsoever for the vending machines... The game upon release, despite awesome IMHO, was a glorified BETA; The original Bioshock actually looks a lot BETTER nowadays than the sequel, believe it or not.

This is simple laziness, or they'd decided that no one gave a s**t about Bioshock 2 by this point and they certainly wouldn't jump through Games For Windows Live to get it. Which is probably more understandable, but that's their own f***ing problem. They're the idiots that stubbornly stuck with GFWL, and now it's costing both them and us.

Dear Meg,
As a Bioshock 2 customer, I am outraged that 2K has decided to not release additional DLC content for the PC (namely Minerva's Den).
I find this upsetting for several reasons:
1) In 2K's original announcement for Minerva's Den, 2K stated that a PC release was forthcoming - to backtrack on a statement like that constitutes a broken promise and hurts 2K's overall credibility and public image for all users.
2) More importantly, by your actions you're telling the PC market that we don't matter. If this is truly how 2K Games feels, then just come out and say so. As PC users we'll simply make sure not to purchase your games if we're to be treated as second-class citizens. And as much as we like the Bioshock universe, you should already start cutting back your projections for Bioshock Infinite if this is the half-hearted support you intend to provide for that title as well.
I do not know what sort of flawed cost / benefit analysis went into your decision-making process, but based on the anger and the number of responses I've seen in comments posted on numerous websites (including 2K Forums), I think you are being short-sighted in thinking that a PC release would not be worth the time or effort. I have read the extremely positive reviews for Minerva's Den and would have even prepaid for the DLC if 2K needed to guarantee a certain level of downloads to ensure profitability. Instead 2K has hurt its own image by handling this issue in such a haphazard fashion.
I urge you to reconsider your decision and rebuild your trust with your customers - they're your ultimate stakeholders, not the shareholders, and will decide the ultimate success of Take Two Interactive as a company.
Best Regards,
[Your Name]
