Euro Two Worlds II has English language

UPDATE: Delay not due to SouthPeak debts.

Update: SouthPeak has contacted Eurogamer to deny holding Two Worlds II back because of a debt owed to German publisher CDV.

"I can absolutely categorically say that the current situation with Two Worlds II is not connected to previous legal issues," a spokesperson for the publisher said. "We will officially announce the UK release date for Two Worlds II shortly, to end all this speculation, and we just ask for fans to please remain patient."

Original story: The confusion surrounding SouthPeak's continued refusal to date the UK release of PS3 and Xbox 360 role-playing game Two Worlds II took another twist this morning when it emerged that all regional releases of the game will support multiple languages - including English.

In mainland Europe the game is on track for a 21st October launch, a spokesperson for TopWare, the game's European publisher, confirmed to Eurogamer this morning. But importers beware: manuals and menus will be in the native tongue of the region you import from.

On PC, the European standard edition won't generally support the English language. But if you live in Scandinavia it will. Bigger territories such as Germany and Spain will have a dedicated language release, so you'll need to upgrade to the Premium or Royal editions for multiple languages there.

This suggests that localisation problems aren't behind the increasingly uncertain UK release of Two Worlds II. This also backs up what TopWare told GameSpot recently: that the game was ready but being held back by Western publisher SouthPeak to avoid a busy release schedule.

"There were concerns our title could potentially be lost in the fanfare. Our publishing partner SouthPeak, to their credit, has acknowledged this fact and made an adjustment, postponing their launch of Two Worlds II into early 2011," said TopWare, commenting on the announced US delay.

There's a further twist.

SouthPeak owes German publisher CDV money. Back in August, bailiffs stormed SouthPeak and took 40,000 games. They sold for £50,000, but the total bill to be repaid stands at $3.4 million. The only thing stopping bailiffs gobbling up the rest of SouthPeak was the then forthcoming September 2010 launch of Two Worlds II.

"They don't have any new releases until Two Worlds II, but we'll be able to do the same again," warned CDV's legal team. "The question is, do we seize the stock or let it sell and seize the proceeds?"

Publisher SouthPeak continues to stick by a TBC date for Two Worlds II in the UK.

Looking for a job in Two Worlds II. Ironic.

    Erm Two Worlds was fucking awful. I didn't so much trade it in as go straight back to Game the next day and demand a fucking exchange for something not shit.

    Just release the game somewhere in this case. I'm actually interested in this Twi Worlds II, despite the original getting bad reviews.

    "we just ask for fans to please remain patient"

    Fan response:
    "Piss off, we are loyal to the developers, not you. Let's go import it from amazon.de and play it 3 months early!"
  • swissorc #10 2 years ago

    I'm confused can I import or not
  • Death-Jester #11 2 years ago

    @swissorc:
    Yes. Continental EU is getting it on the 21st, so if you want it then order it from one of the good EU shops. Amazon.de is supposed to be very good for shipping abroad - people importing to the UK expect to get their copies by 23rd-24th.

    Two Worlds must be one of the most underrated role playing games ever. Sure, it was buggy, had awful voice acting and game balance was off the wall. But it was incredibly ambitious, beautiful and had a lot to offer once you gave it a fair shot.

    I almost missed out on it too, because of the Oblivion hype around the time it was released. But I purchased it about six months ago on a whim and it's actually a really enjoyable game, despite the flaws. Had a lot of fun with it and am really looking forward to the sequel!

    @Ap3xx:
    You're getting negged because to anyone with knowledge of this... debacle, would consider your post as trolling.
    Topware is a good company, they have acknowledged the problems the first game had, and are asking for a second chance to make a great game. Southpeak are the gits who don't deserve the money this game makes, and considering the number of UK/US fans who are going to import the game, I don't think they'll be getting much.

    It's news for people from the UK who are wondering if and where from they can import it.

    Im unrepentant about my earlier post.
    The first game was embarrassingly bad.
    The characters looked like shit, the voices horrific, the graphics amateurish.
    roll on the negs. your tears are tasty.

    From Wikipedia:

    "Upon initial release, Two Worlds received mixed to fair ratings for the PC version with an average critic score of 66% while the Xbox 360 version however received more negative feedback with an average critic score of 51%.[12] Gamespot gave Two Worlds a 7.5 for the PC version, and a 7 for the Xbox 360 version. IGN gave the PC version 7.3, and the Xbox 360 version 6.8,[13] while Gamespy gave the game 1 star. Gameplasma gave the game a similar 7.4 for PC[14] but a 5 for the Xbox 360.[15] In Germany however, where Two Worlds was first released, reception was much more positive, receiving scores between 80% and 93% by over 50 different websites and reviewers.[16] In OXM, Two Worlds was given a score of 6.0.
    Since release, there have been numerous patches to improve the gameplay, graphics, and controls. The most recent patch brings the game to version 1.7. Hyper's Daniel Wilks commends the game for its "huge map, great character creation and lots to explore". However, he criticises the game for being "not finished, buggy as hell and [having] the worst ending ever".[17]
    In August 2008, a new version of the game including two multiplayer add-ons was released. Honest Gamers awarded the new package 5 out of 10, one mark above that awarded to the original title.[18]"

    I don't think they need to worry about a busy release schedule. This is going to sell sweet fuck all irrespective of when they release it. Can't imagine the bailiffs breathing down their necks did much for the development process either, knowing that their games will be seized.

    There's too many competent games around for this to make a ripple. If they're waiting for that to change they'll be waiting a while.

    How to guarantee piracy. Do this!
  • Death-Jester #18 2 years ago

    @apoc_reg
    I was thinking the same thing, but apparently the multiplayer is supposed to be kind of fun, so might be worth a look. Probably not though...
  • apoc_reg #19 2 years ago

    EUROGAMER YOUR WRONG!

    You owe me 40 Euros, as soon as i saw this i went to amazon.de and ordered it... just got it (standard version) and it DOES NOT have english langage.

    Just great. Thanks a lot, what genius wrote this story?!
