Two Worlds II UK release still TBC

As SouthPeak delays US launch.

SouthPeak has officially delayed the US release of Two Worlds II from October 2010 to January 2011.

But the state of the UK launch remains unclear: a spokesperson told Eurogamer yesterday the date was still "TBC".

Commenting on the US delay, SouthPeak said: "There's a reason for everything and although we feel that the game is truly at AAA level, we want Two Worlds II to be absolutely flawless when it launches in the North American market."

Two Worlds II was poised for an autumn 2010 release, but when pressed by Eurogamer earlier this month SouthPeak and retailers were non-committal.

Soon after, European publisher Zuxxez announced a one month delay for Two Worlds II on the continent and pushed the date back to 21st October.

Things aren't exactly looking up.

Two Worlds II is a fantasy RPG for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Here you'll find swords, shields, magic spells and potions. There's also an exciting co-operative multiplayer element stuffed in. What's more, the game's "surprisingly good", according to Christian Donlan's preview for Eurogamer earlier this year.

Two words: rat punching.

I'm so pissed off by this and Deadly premonition getting delayed and delayed. Get your fucking acts together and release the games. (UK)

October was never going to be a good time for it to be released what with Fable, Fallout etc. all being released. Perhaps being pushed back could be a bit of a blessing in disguise. Especially if they can hit the early January launch with no problems.

Could South Peak be going into administration?

Not to worry. I don't want this to come out at the same time as Gothic 4. Very similar games.

At least the guys behind Gothic 4 have got a product they can demo, which would indicate a near readiness to release....as for TW2 this does not look good. Maybe they are concerned about big hitters being released so close to their game,:-
Gothic 4, Fable 3 , FO3 and Cataclysm may well steal their thunder.

Not too impressed with gothic demo, have it all maxed out but it looks hideous. Terribly glitchy and there's that horrible layer of static fuzz across terrain most of the time. Risen looked better? Interface menus are dog ugly too, really need to hire an artist for that. Had high hopes form it but il just continue to play Risen. Mind I know it's not all about the graphics, it's just that theyre so bad in gothic 4, it hurts my eyes and the experience.

Two world looks rather sharp and has had some positive previews. Guess it's just a case of hiding from next months heavy hitters. Now Q1 2011 is shaping up to something epic.

Gothic 4 was dreadful. I hope TW II works this time, it looks like Demons Souls with more adventure and rpg - though Demon's Souls is at the moment in a league of it's own.

I agree the Gothic 4 demo was a bit "fuzzy", but then again Piranha Bytes are nothing to do with it (they made Risen while these chaps made Gothic 4). I have my concerns about it to be honest. I've got it pre-ordered just on the basis of the name, even though it could be completely different to what I want from the Gothic series.

Ha, people actually care for when this gets released.

Topware/Reality Pump said they won't be bringing out a demo for TW2. The game went gold about a week ago.
The excuses Southpeak have given are complete toss. If the game has gone gold, then it's 'finished' (bar small patches etc.). Topware have stated they put all their efforts into not making the same mistakes as the first game, which was very buggy. Southpeak have nothing to do with development, fixing or patching the game. Their job is to make copies and sell the game. They have no way of doing "Heavy Q&A" and making the game "Flawless" (their words), unless they take the game to another developer (highly illegal!).

It's also a big 'up yours' to Topware/Reality Pump and Zuxxez, to imply that the game isn't ready until Southpeak say they are.

The official and unofficial forums are already awash with US/UK/Australian gamers saying they will import is from the EU (multilanguage), which means the developer still gets their money for making what sounds like a really impressive game, and Southpeak lose money for having the business acumen and common sense of a dog turd.

I wonder if this will add to or detract from piracy? hmmmm ...

A gamesTM preview I read a few months ago didn't seem very complimentary about Two Worlds II so, while I have no doubts that the sequel will be a vast improvement on the awful original, I can't see it being much better than ordinary personally. There were just too many things wrong with the first game and the developers are either too inexperienced or too small to achieve their ambition of making an Oblivion beater. I wish them the best of luck and hope the game turns out to be unexpectedly good but after getting my fingers burnt with Two Worlds, I shall certainly be approaching this sequel with extreme caution!

With The Witcher 2 on the way, the sequel to one of the best RPGs-that-isn't-by-BioWare, I find it hard to get excited about any other RPG really, Gothic 4, Two Worlds II or whatever.
