Sackboy storms 3D Dot Game Heroes

A taste of his own medicine at last.

After welcoming countless émigrés from other franchises into LittleBigPlanet, Sackboy is finally doing some moonlighting of his own in 3D Dot Game Heroes.

A new update for the PlayStation 3 exclusive introduces Sackboy as a playable character, alongside 50 new fan- and staff-created avatars.

You can now also carry certain swords over in New Game+, adjustments have been made to the Dash Circuit mini-game completion times and some minor bugs have been patched up too.

Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell gave SouthPeak's cute DIY adventure a humble 6/10 when it launched earlier this year.

Sounds great; I really need to get back to 3DDGH. The difficulty totally caught me off guard and I left it in favour of other releases a few months back - the main one being Demon's Souls.

Dash Circuit times - making them a bit more lenient?

6/10 Was a bit harsh. Still had a lot of charm and did many things well. Not brilliant, but well.

3D dot game heroes is a very charming game and yes, 6/10 was a little harsh in my opinion as well.

Got the game a few days ago, and have been really impressed by what I've see so far; I'm putting it more at an 8 or 9. Completely loving the way it celebrates the Zelda style of things, but delivering comedy for a more mature gaming audience and adding the text speed option for the impatient gamer.

It is most like the way The Phantom Hour Glass might have looked even better on a home console, but the visuals and gameplay also seem familiar to both Wind Waker and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

It is lucky I'd already pre-order Move/SC or I might not bought it until I finished this £19 bargain from Shopto. Now I've got the problem of how to use my gaming time, as both seem worthy.

I probably won't buy Sackboy, but will be interest if they do some other Sony characters from ModNation, Ico, SotC, etc.
