Facebook claims 200 million gamers

200 million people play games on Facebook every month, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Speaking to developers at Facebook's California HQ, Zuckerberg explained how users had a love/hate relationship with the social networking site's games offering, Edge reported.

"Games are kind of this really interesting duality," said Zuckerberg. "On the one hand, games are a phenomenon. 200 million people or more are playing games on the site... On the other hand, games are also one of the biggest complaints that we get. Just like they're in the top five things people like, they are often right up there on the list of top five things that people wish weren't there."

Whether users approve or not, those are huge numbers. The combined user base of PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 currently sits at approximately 150 million.

Zuckerberg also revealed that the top 10 games on the platform all enjoy at least 12 million users every month and 40 per cent of all Facebook users come to the site to play games.

THQ today hinted that it is looking to bring some of its biggest franchises to the site, including Saints Row and UFC.
