EVE Online's 14th expansion revealed

It's not Walking in Stations.

CCP has announced a 14th expansion for EVE Online called Incursion. It's due out in November.

The expansion highlights the reason EVE stands apart from other MMOs; most of the expansion's content is a result of discussions between the Council of Stellar Management - the elected community representatives - and developer CCP.

Therefore, Incursion brings about things that matter to you, such as improvements to server hardware so that fleet battles can finally live up to their name and allow hundreds of players to zap it out in space. Plus, character creation will be beefed up, NPCs made cleverer, the game's graphics tweaked and a "more dynamic and simplified" Planetary Interaction system implemented.

There's also a bit of a story to follow: Sansha's Nation is trying to establish a utopia and toasting anyone that gets in its way. Help defeat those incursions as part of public fleets and you'll be rewarded well.

Incursion will also bring about changes to the EVE online portal EVEGate. Among the additions will be new forums to help stress the importance of strong organisation within the game.

"Incursion marks a point where our PVE experience moves towards the co-operative roots of EVE and the largest introduction of our Carbon Technology platform to date. Never before have so many players and developers contributed to EVE's living universe," trumpeted producer Arnar Gylfason.

Apparently these "Casualty" and "Butterfly Effect" videos best illustrate the "meaningful relationships" EVE players have with each other.

I agree. I've tried out numerous trial accounts but can never get the proper feel for it.

8 months into EVE now, still loving every minute. Well, the vast majority.

It's 'Causality', not 'Casualty'. Too much tellly?

In the game since January. Unfortunately I'm mostly just training and not really playing because of real life. But I like the fact that I can choose how much or how little time I spend in the game itself. Whenever I get more free time to play I'll be able to jump right back in. Currently I'm an Industrialist. But I love the fact that I can choose to switch that whenever I want.

Just to second Smuggo's comments, the EG corps are a great place to start. I began playing in July and am really enjoying it. There's a lot to learn, and you really do need a decent corp behind you help those early stages. If you get past the cliff, it's very rewarding. :)

Walking in stations or high level mass PvP between hundreds of people without the server dying a slow, agonizing death? I think I'd go with better servers, as those can make the game play much, much better.

how long does it take to make a 3d walking mini game?
  • misinformed #11 2 years ago

None of the eve expansions in the past few years have really made me want to go back and play it.

Theyll always be bug fixes so i dont quite see how that, and server upgrades get a mention as a feature in an expansion rather than a bullet point in a patch note like every other game.

RP'ing is part of the core game. MMORPG, QED.

also, if your 1,000 ship battles are destroying the servers, maybe you should consider peace talks?

    @Djed

Well apparently you haven't played EvE or not for long. EvE is centered on PvP, not RP.
