Will Yun and Yang come to console SF4?

Yoshinori Ono offers cryptic tease.

Street Fighter fans hoping to see Yun and Yang made available to download to the console versions of Super Street Fighter IV received a boost today after producer Yoshinori Ono refused to deny that Capcom plans to add DLC characters.

Capcom confirmed the addition of Yun and Yang to the already bulging Super Street Fighter IV roster at the Tokyo Game Show's Tougeki fighting tournament – but only for the arcade version.

Attention now turns to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, released in April.

"In terms of making a major update version like Ultra Street Fighter IV, that's not something we're thinking about," Ono told Eurogamer.

"In terms of character additions, I don't want to be kicked by the PR."

Ono has said in the past that Super Street Fighter IV marks the final entry in the Street Fighter IV series.

But in interviews the enthusiastic developer has always left the door open for the addition of new characters and balance changes.

"At the moment, as you know, we're working on the arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV," Ono added.

"I suppose once that's done, in terms of Super Street Fighter IV franchise, that might be it for now. The rest I'm not able to say."

Capcom was unable to comment when contacted by Eurogamer.

Pretty obvious they'll be in Super Street Fighter 4 Turbo, released March 2011.

They'd better. And they'll probably sell the extra suits for 20 bucks as well.

@superbeast2010 - no you are not, extra outfits are good DLC, in that they dont make me feel like I'm being cheated, extra characters are fine when they're just extra skins, like in a lot of other genres, but in a figting gaem, holding back ready to go chars feels like a cheat.

The truth is, everything is SSFIV could have been DLC too, early comments after SFIV hinted that Deejay had been prepared as DLC(another char too if I remember, maybe Fei Long?). They milked that into another game(which I bought, despite feeling ashamed). The only question here is whether or not Capcom has fully embraced DLC over the old strategy of reiterating the same game.

Didn't mind paying the budget price for SSF4 at all to be honest even though I bought SF4 as well. It was quite a bit more than just a bunch of new characters. Heck, if they also changed the graphics just slightly every other company would have probably sold it as SF5.

That said I really hope the new characters will make it to the 360/PS3 as DLC as well but I guess there are quite a few technical issues to get out of the way first as DLC will inevitably split the userbase.

The difficulty with DLC in that genre is balancing everything just right. You can't just put a new character into the game and be done with it. It would ruin the entire game. A lot of balancing was done with SSF4 and I'd rather spend a little more money for a complete and balanced game than save just a tiny bit if everything was DLC. Which, as a matter of fact, would probably not have been cheaper anyway.

There will be more than 2 extra characters, and I hope they make it to console as DLC rather than a whole new disk to purchase like SSFIV was.

Although I think people are being a bit harsh, there are a TON of balance tweaks and even whole new moves for some characters, all of which have to be woven into the mix with the other 36 (so far) characters' strengths and weaknesses so as not to unbalance an dpotentially break the game. It's a massive task, and I personally am more than willing to pay for the result of Capcom's labours.

I hadn't really considered the balance tweaks, fair point, maybe I'm just too old and cynical :)

surely the balancing is kind of irrelevant, in that they'll have to do that for the arcade version anyway!

Still waiting for the PC version. Not buying anything from them until it's out. :-/

I'm quite happy to pay for the SSFIV DLC, it's all non game changing and entirely optional.

As the game is so cheap to start with for such an incredible game I think charging for such major additions as new characters is fine.

I'll be getting them if they do appear but wonder if you'll only get matched with players that have downloaded the new characters reducing the pool of opponents.

I want a PC version too. Not buying anything until its out either. Not realeasing it for pc because of piracy is a super lame excuse.
