Story-based Mafia II DLC announced
Joe Barbaro gets his moment in the spotlight.
A story-based downloadable add-on for gangster game Mafia II will be released later this year, 2K Games has announced.
Joe's Adventures, the third Mafia II add-on, will be available to download from the PlayStation Store for PS3, Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360 and... The internet for PC.
The player character is Joe Barbaro, Vito Scaletta's best friend. You assume control during the time Vito spends in prison. We're promised a "dramatic storyline" with "intense arcade-style" gameplay.
The DLC will open up several new areas in Empire Bay, including a train station, the cathouse, a boat yard, a lakefront and some new buildings. Sounds lovely.
New items are up for grabs, such as new clothing, collectibles and more classic forties and fifties music.
Optional city-based quests are the focus of the arcade gameplay. There's a points-based system that allows you to move up the ranks on the online leaderboard with combos and multiplier bonuses.
No pricing details were revealed.

There again... there doesn't seem to be much demand for public transport in Empire Bay because no-one ever gets on the buses that are driving around either!

DLC sure is a real incentive to pay full price for a game. Not...
(Still a brilliant game though)

My thoughts exactly. Was waiting for this to be cheap but now they're adding DLC, if its released in a years time with all DLC for £30 or so then I'm in.

Says, it'll be the 3rd add on, I know Jimmy's Vendetta is one, what's the other?

With every DLC announced the score is more and more justified.

I still think they should have let Vito roam around after the story was finished. Having fun with that in Jimmy's Vendetta, supercharing the cars and such. 30 cars in the garage (not including those you got when you pre-ordered), so a big difference from the 10 you were allowed in the main story.

@Darren: I remember seeing a diesel train in some of the preview shots, and there's certainly an EL in the city (in the demo). If none of it works, that's a shame. The EL in the first game was both atmospheric and useful, as were the streetcars. Great fun to be had if you were being chased by the cops and managed to jump on one and watch out the rear window as they tried to keep up.

Because it's Mafia II.
Oh right. That's me sold then!

theres also an entire Projects style section of the map, amazing to look at and entirely unused in the main game. theres so much cool stuff in that map, yet entirely pointless at present.

And as for the 4/10, very very harsh indeed. I tend to buy only the good titles (8/10 or more, maybe 7) but that game should warrant at least a 7. 4 is if it's broken or buggy which it isnt
