SouthPeak cagey on Two Worlds II date

Definitely not out tomorrow. This year?

SouthPeak has scotched hopes that Two Worlds II will be released tomorrow. It most certainly won't.

The plot thickened when Eurogamer asked for clarification on when the sprawling fantasy RPG will be released: "TBC," we were told by the publisher. TBC? For a game supposedly due out this autumn?

Retailer ShopTo increased suspicion of a delay, telling Eurogamer that publisher SouthPeak had said "late October at the earliest" when the two companies spoke "the other day".

We've cast our net further and will update this story with what we find out.

As of now, Play.com still carries the scotched 17th Setpember release date, HMV and ShopTo list a 29th October date, Zavvi touts an 18th March 2011 date and Amazon and GAME have no date listed at all.

Two Worlds II is being developed by Reality Pump for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The sequel promises to be much improved, as Christian Donlan found out for Eurogamer earlier this year.

I put on my cuirass and bucket helm.

Gothic 4 is supposed to be out very soon, maybe they don't want the competition.

I just hope than TW2 will be better than the FIRST... ;)

Wow. That's a kick in the balls to anyone who had it pre-ordered.

Damnit. As one of the apparently few people who thought Two Worlds 1 was really good, I have really looked forward to this game. Of course I'd rather have a polished game than a piece of turd, so here's hoping that it's worth the wait.

The frustrating this is that it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the developers, it's something to do with the publisher SouthPeak owing someone rather a lot money...

I'm gonna guess this has more to do with frightened publishers worried about releasing during the Halo Reach period rather than problems with the game itself.
As someone mentioned why bother putting out a release date at all if your gonna piss in the face of your loyal fans at the last moment, yes this game has loyal fans, TW 1 was actually a very good game if you gave it a chance people complain about bugs and glitches but none of them were game breaking like the ones in Oblivion.
This sort of business practice can only negatively affect sales in the long run and if i was the chief dev i would be seriously considering renewing my contract.

Like i said just a guess.

Edit: going by what Quint mentioned this makes even more sense now.

Bugger I really was looking forward to this I chose it over several other games to get this month such as halo reach and dead rising 2, I went on play as I pre ordered it last week and still it says tomorrow (17th) but no one else agrees with that release date obviously ........................... screw it im gonna get gothic 4 instead unless of course that gets delayed too.

Blame the pope He arrived in the uk at about the same time as I found out its delayed which cannot be mere coincidence damn him and his pope mobile

Two Worlds 2, Arcania: Gothic 4, Dead Rising 2, Fallout: New Vegas.. Wow, those are some time consuming games coming up. I'm getting them all! Almost happy Risen 2 isn't due until 2011 sometime.

Joystiq have 'apparently' got official word that the release date is back to 5th Oct. for US, with no release date set for EU customers. Official statement is going to be made tomorrow by the developers. I guess if the release date for the EU is going to be a long way away (which it could be if they plan on some type of multi-language version) there are going to be a awful lot of EU players pirating the game instead of waiting for it.

Mega bumder! Loved the 1st one even if it was a buggy bastard! Can't wait for number2 but if it's polished and bugs ironed out then I guess it will be worth the wait ... Hope it's not delayed due to halo!!
