Dutch star joins devs on stage in Ibiza.

Superstar turntablist Tiesto is the official European ambassador for DJ Hero 2, Activision's announced.

The news came via a press conference this morning in Ibiza, where the Dutch mix master took to the stage to discuss his role in the game. We have a badly taken photo to prove it.

In addition to appearing as a playable character in the sequel and contributing three tracks, Tiesto created two remixes for the game, featuring Adamski's Killer and Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.

Tiesto's involvement as a spokesperson is part of developer FreeStyleGames' attempt to make DJ Hero 2 more Euro-friendly, with a wider selection of pop and dance tracks than the original's hiphop-heavy tracklisting.

Various FreeStyle staffers, including creative director Jamie Jackson and in-house scratch DJ Blakey, demoed final code of the sequel on stage, walking press through the process of creating mixes for the game and showing off new multiplayer features.

"It's every child's dream to actually be in a video game," said Tiesto, who admitted to being a big FIFA fan.

"Europe has always been at the forefront of new music and club culture, and it's a great feeling to be a part of something that will bring the excitement of the world's biggest clubs into people's homes."

The event is running all day and Eurogamer will be chatting to Tiesto and FreeStyle later on, just as soon as we've had another five minutes by the pool.

DJ Hero 2 launches in Europe on 22nd October. Activision's just put out a new trailer, which you can see below.

I hope it has kinect/move/wii integration, where you can extend your arms and look like a tough 12-year old while your cd is running automatically.

Anyways, you snobby indie lovers you, he ain't that bad, actually one of the biggest names in trance, so pretty good choice I'd say.

Agreed, I quite like a bit of trance music and Tiesto has been shit for years. And his version of Adagio for Strings sucks compared to Ferry Corsten's (even though that sounds pretty dated now). In my book they should have chosen John '00' Fleming for this game, he's just too awesome

Ti�sto might not be my favourite DJ/Producer (that goes to Hybrid) but to call him sh!t is bordering on blasphemy.

He was half of Gouryella after all.

Tiesto's first album (In My Memory) and a few of the Magik and ISOS series were good, but after that is commercialised trash. Just Be - including his Adagio remix - was tripe, and Elements of Life was nothing short of a cancerous abortion.

Hope for some Gouryella tracks, Suburban Train, His Remix of Silnece by Delirum. But I am 99% sure that this not gonna happen, because when you listen where is Tiesto now you will see why did they bring him to DJ Hero... (look for Tiesto - Feel it). I love trance its my favourite type of music and yeah Tiesto in history done a lot for this type of music, but he isn't a trance dj/producer anymore...

Erm, do the DJ Hero games actually have a great deal of dance music in them? When I looked at the tracklisting I thought they missed a trick going down the hip hop-ish route, surely a Deadmau5 / David Gueta / Tiesto type effort would have been far more popular.

Worst DJ in the world, bar none.

He's the cultural equivalent of a McDonald's Happy Meal: one that's been spewed out and scraped off the forecourt of a Yates' Wine Lodge. I'd rather shit blood than endorse this man in any way.

DJ Hero 1 had pioneers like Grandmaster Flash, Jazzy Jeff and real icons like DJ Shadow and Daft Punk as playable characters. The sequel gets preening arseholes like Tiesto and that arrogant twunt who wears a mouse head. Real dip in quality, just like the tracklist.
