Telltale reveals crossover Poker game

Combines TF2, Penny Arcade, Strong Bad.

Telltale Games, the maker of Sam & Max, has revealed Poker Night at The Inventory for PC and Mac. The game's coming this autumn.

The interesting part is that Telltale has somehow dragged Valve and Penny Arcade on board: a move that means Team Fortress 2's Heavy and Penny Arcade's Tycho will appear in the game.

At the table beside them will be Max and Strong Bad from Homestar Runner.

"We've had the idea for some time of exploring the idea of what video characters do when they're not 'on the clock' in the games we play," commented Telltale boss Dan Connors. "We pitched the idea to friends in the industry and it really resonated. We all had a great time imagining what these guys would banter about while slinging cards – from there Poker Night at The Inventory was born."

There are "plenty" of surprises planned.

You can pre-order Poker Night at The Inventory for $4.95 from the Telltale Store right now.

I wonder how they're going to handle voices. All characters except Tycho have voices, but with Penny Arcade's games it was a concious decision not to give them voices.

They are in another game we play? Sorry, but this seems like a simple card game which attracts attention not because it's good, but because it has readily recognisable characters from famous franchises.

They are probably going to charge extra for additional characters. Generate a business model where you begin with only 4, but there are probably about 30 characters available for about £0.99 each. Personaly, I do not know how to play poker but if theres a tutorial and an online mode then this might be a decent game to play with a couple of friends. It's below £4 if I am correct so not a huge amoutn of money.

The Heavy from TF2 is an interesting choice. I'd have liked to see the Spy there personally if I had to pick a single class but it'd have been great to have them all and just pick which one you wanted to play as. I can imagine the Pyro's poker face would be particularly good.

I'm pretty sure I've watched enough Homestar Runner to know that Strong Bad wouldn't play poker in his spare time; he'd play video games.
