Staff laid off from Tom Clancy studio
Game dev not affected, says Ubi.
Ubisoft has confirmed that 38 members of staff have been made redundant from Red Storm Entertainment.
That's the studio founded by author Tom Clancy and Navy veteran Doug Littlejohns. It's produced titles such as Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 and Amercia's Army: True Soldiers.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Ubisoft said the move was part of "a realignment of production priorities". The publisher said it would not have an impact on games already in development.
"Red Storm remains an integral part of Ubisoft's worldwide production team and will continue to work on the multiplayer component of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier," a spokesperson told Kotaku.
"The decision was part of a plan to allow the studio to focus on its core expertise: developing innovative multiplayer experiences."
The members of staff affected by the redundancies are being offered jobs at other Ubisoft studios, according to a spokesperson.

Anyway, that aside, I hope this doesn't detract from the quality of (most of) the games. The Tom Clancy franchise is typically of a very high quality, and whilst there are a few games endorsed with his name that I dislike, there are many more I love.
I hope the people who were laid off do okay.

We've gone through the same process at our company - and can only give best wishes to those involved.
