It has Free Bird. That's all anyone needed to know.
  • SAMagic #2 2 years ago

Not much else though. Some decent tracks, but not enough to make me pre-order it in a heartbeat.

I@ve been thinking of getting this for the keyboard, and maybe the singing (tried plastic guitars on the PS2 and didn't like them). I started reading this list and was like urgh...

But then the earlier the decades got, the more and more class stuff appeared. John Lennon's Imagine for christ's sake!I think this is a buy after all.

  • Shinetop #4 2 years ago

Rather a bland tracklist if you ask me. Same with GH6. I think I'll just wait for RB2 to dip in price once this is out and get that. The tracks on that seem much better.
  • kangarootoo #5 2 years ago

Queens of the Stone Age, “No One Knows” is an awesome drumming song. One of the best.

Overall not a particularly stand out list. ABout a third seems interesting, but quite a few of those tracks I've already played in GH.
  • MaFlippinHeadHurts #6 2 years ago

I wasn’t going to bother getting another one of these damn games, however, there are some really cracking songs on there that will be really good fun to play

…..and it’s way better (as usual) than the GH set list

'Foolin' by Def Leppard - wow. Much better than the awful 'Pour Some Sugar on Me' that's on the GH set!
  • Vortex808 #7 2 years ago

There are probably slightly more songs on here that are of interest to me than on GH6, BUT that does have Neil Young on it.

I will probably buy one of them, but neither is really grabbing me that much yet. I noticed they both have a couple of the same songs as well this time. Is that usual? I don't recall noticing that before, but i've never looked that hard to be honest.
  • GeezaTap #8 2 years ago

    Rock Lobster! Awesome :D
  • AccidentProne #9 2 years ago

Nice to see Pretty Girls Make Graves and At the Drive-In on there, a few other reasonable tunes too imho. Still not sure it's enough to tempt me though, kinda got bored with these things after GH3.
  • Goodfella #10 2 years ago

Am I officially old because from the 90's and 2000's I only recognize Du Hast?

Can't wait though, the 70's and 80's tracks (my preferred era) are mostly great.
  • kinky_mong #11 2 years ago

Rock Band 3 has 83 songs and, gasp, some new gameplay features as well, including keyboard support and "Pro" mode, where you learn to sell your body on the streets. Where you learn to play real instruments.

Weird structure to that paragraph. Did you mean to say something along the lines of "You'll learn to sell you're body on the streets so you can afford the pro instruments needed to play this mode"?
  • udat #12 2 years ago

I was just like Mentalist - I think I knew one of two tracks from the 2000s, a couple more from the 90s, and then the 80s and 70s came along and suddenly I was far more interested. Hell, if this game could teach me how to properly play Imagine on the piano I think it would be worth getting.
  • andywilkie35 #13 2 years ago

I like it, a fair few familiar tracks and lots I don't know, meaning loads of new music to explore.

Will easily be my game of the year, no doubt about that.
  • mcmonkeyplc #14 2 years ago

There are no muse tracks! Criminal neglect!

It does have Du hast and Freebird though.

I expect a complete muse game then!
  • MikkyX #15 2 years ago

I still hold out hope that the reason you almost never see Muse tracks in these games is because there's a Muse: Rock Band coming somewhere down the line.......
  • dloob #16 2 years ago

Ugggh did they have to have Imagine in there with Lennon's whinging stinking up the place.
  • Dagdriver #17 2 years ago

    Amy Winehouse? Really?
  • Toothball #18 2 years ago

I'm as happy to see songs on that list that I don't know as I am to see ones I do. Rock Band has introduced me to plenty of new and old music over the years, so I'm up for pretty much anything they care to select. I'm more interested in the new Tour mode features and instruments, as I've had a regular band since the first one came out.
  • myiagros #19 2 years ago

Worst tracklist so far, if these song were available as dlc i couldn't see myself buying more than half a dozen.

Also the majority of the most recognisable songs were in the first 2 guitar hero games already.

I feel really sorry for any bands singer, as they will know the words to hardly any of these tracks.
  • TheChieftian #20 2 years ago

    Where's the 60's?

Edit: Got the list from Wikipedia:

The Doors - Break On Through (To the Other Side)
    Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic
The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations (Live)
The Who - I Can See For Miles
James Brown - I Got You (I Feel Good)
    David Bowie - Space Oddity

    Re Edit

Ah, they've added to the article now...

Couple of songs on there I don't like but otherwise its a definite sale for me.

    Midlife Crisis FTW
  • OllyJ #22 2 years ago

I'm bored now, it's a pretty uninspiring list. except for Dio.
  • FairgroundTown #23 2 years ago

Interesting to see Mana in there - one of the biggest bands in the world - and damn fine musicians - but they could walk down Oxford Street in London quite unmolested, I suspect - because they sing in Spanish. And good on them (and Juanes) for making this breakthrough without taking their clothes off (I'm looking at you, Shakira) or singing in English (I'm looking at you again, Shakira).
  • LR100 #24 2 years ago

Some good stuff on there, however whose idea was it to Amy Winehouse on there? It's also a shame to see a handful of tracks that have appeared on other music games (well ok, Guitar Hero) and as DLC already, plus some of my fave bands on the list are presented with obscure songs! I think i'll wait a bit, or get it at christmas.
  • BigJonno #25 2 years ago

    @Goodfella

I recognise very few of the 00's tracks (hell, I don't even recognise half the bands) but know more as they get older and I'm only 27. Although I do realise that makes me ancient in videogame years.
  • Boomerang #26 2 years ago

    @kinky_mong

You're not getting it at all. The paragraph is fine, it's a pro-being-short-for-prostitute-mode joke. Move along.
  • Monkey_Puncher #27 2 years ago

    Flaming Lips and Devo? Wow!

This list is all over the place, colour me impressed!
  • makeamazing #28 2 years ago

I didnt recognise any songs in the 2000's... i must be getting really old :(

Is it me, or is there a lack of quality keyboard songs, wheres Petshop Boys/New Order/OMD....for some electronic keyboard love!
  • RexRunti #29 2 years ago

When these tracks were first leaked there were a load of songs I didn't know but listening to them on http://rockbandaide.com/rb3-setlist/ made me realise how many great songs I don't know the names of. Yeah the songs from 2000 slightly suck but compared to the GH6 soundtrack this list is amazing.

PS Does anyone know if songs from RB1 and RB2 will have keyboards etc added to them? Not that I'm that interested in keyboards but it will be good to know.
  • jaxon58 #30 2 years ago

So now the RB3 and GH6 setlists are confirmed, we're not likely to ever see Led Zepp or Pink Floyd in these games :(
Not that I thought we would, but these two seem to be the last chance apart from DC.
  • RobotRocker #31 2 years ago

Couple of songs on there I don't like but otherwise its a definite sale for me.

Theres a new feature where you can rate the songs. If you rate them 1, they never appear on random set lists. So if you dont like them, you don't have to see them.

Considering the disc songs usually lead into DLC releases from the same bands as well, the few weeks after RB3 should be positively delicious. Best of the Beach Boys and entire Ziggy Stardust album plz Harmonix.

PS Does anyone know if songs from RB1 and RB2 will have keyboards etc added to them? Not that I'm that interested in keyboards but it will be good to know.

Harmonix are looking into it and are hoping to have a solution to it soon. There is a hook for "Legacy" DLC to get an update including imported tracks from RB1,RB2, Lego, Green Day, AC/DC etc but its got a load of legal issues on top of that (Even just to do harmonies).

You can use the keyboard to play regular 5-button guitar tracks though if you are a controller short or you want to mess around. Should be fun for the Freezepop, Gaga and La Roux tracks.

  • Yodzilla #32 2 years ago

Hell yes Jerry Was a Race Car Driver and more Homme.
  • kinky_mong #33 2 years ago

@Boomerang: Read it again. I full well understood the joke, it's the sentence that immediately follows it that is out of place.
  • Toothball #34 2 years ago

    @RobotRocker

Presumably the existing DLC will at least be compatible as is even if adding keyboards and Pro mode doesn't turn out to be possible. I've got a lot of DLC so would love to see it be updated, but I can see that's far from a straightforward process.
  • RobotRocker #35 2 years ago

    @Toothball

Correct. Every bit of DLC bought from the main store, Rock Band Network or imported will be present. Every single bit of legacy DLC will also have Pro-Drums enabled (Due to the animation calls used in Magma and Reaper, the game is able to tell when its a tom or cymbal hit and transfer that to the chart)

Harmonix were polling on what people wanted to see updated a few weeks ago, so while getting every bit of DLC updated is probably impossible. Getting the popular stuff updated is more of a possibility. And you kids know that getting the Queen and Boston packs updated with Keys and Harmonies would be the best thing, right?
  • NunianVonFuch #36 2 years ago

Pretty Girls Make Graves!!! Tegan & Sara! Du Hast! Hey Man Nice Shot! The Beautiful People! The Sounds! Metric! FUCK YES!!!

Ahem. Yes I'll be getting this asap. :) Presume it'll have import option from previous Rock Bands. More Nine Inch Nails would be nice too, maybe with more Manson and Limp Bizkit for the complete 90's experience ;-)
  • MikkyX #37 2 years ago

Started a Spotify playlist if anyone is interested:
    spotify:user:mikkyx:playlist:052jtAqhJG3JmV8w1hKEHk

It should be a collaborative playlist. I've added all the songs I could find for the 00's (couldn't find Humanoid, False Alarm or Combat Baby) and I might've done the 90's by the time you read this, but feel free to continue adding to it until it's complete. I needs me sleep :)
