Gearbox to talk Duke Forever at PAX?
Panel promises "juicy exclusives" and more.
Gearbox Software's panel at next week's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle will include "juicy exclusives, surprising disclosures, unbelievable scoops and behind the scenes access on what Gearbox is up to", according to the official site.
Earlier this month rumour spread that the studio had picked up development on troubled first-person shooter Duke Nukem Forever following the demise of 3D Realms last year and the conclusion of Take-Two's lawsuit against the studio.
Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford had told Kotaku "he may be able to better clarify the situation further at this year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle", which takes place at the end of next week. The Gearbox panel is on Sunday 5th September at 3pm PST.
"Gearbox Software, developers of Borderlands, Brothers in Arms, Aliens: Colonial Marines and others, appear once again to candidly talk with PAX about everything they are involved with!" the description reads.
"Jump in for juicy exclusives, surprising disclosures, unbelievable scoops and behind the scenes access on what Gearbox is up to - straight from the source. Have a first hand look at live presentations and never before seen footage of upcoming Gearbox releases!
"A question and answer session will give YOU the chance to address the rumors and tell the team what you want to see from Gearbox next!"
Pitchford is on the panel along with executive vice president Brian Martel and creative director Mikey Neumann.

Duke and more Borderslands news will be mostly welcome to. Mostly.
(sorry had to get one in if talking Aliens movie quotes are EG law now!)

I hope we see some Duke, there's no way it could ever live up to the hype, but as long as it's fairly decent I don't mind.

Hang on, maybe the whole thing is a tease. Duke is just a playable character in Borderlands2! You read it here first

Of course, here comes the white knight in shining armour to protect his beloved developers from windmills.
All I meant was that Gearbox has no experience in creating a game that bears a similar style to Duke Nukem. Of course, you could say that Gearbox will adapt and change styles, but the only company I've seen do that (successfully) is Valve, and they hired additional talent - people who actually have experience in other areas to help ease the transition.
The only thing Duke has in common with Gearbox games is that it's a first person shooter. Imagine if Bethesda was working on Deus Ex 3, instead. Some might quote this bit and say they wouldn't mind it, but I'd be damn worried if I read that in a news article.

Humour is a rare thing to see in today's games. I find that Erik Wolpaw is among the best video game writers who can handle comedic elements well, and his humour is far too light-hearted for Duke Nukem. I would reluctantly suggest Epic, considering they're comfortable with the absurd, but they would most likely make Duke Nukem truly a generic game, instead of a satiric take on one.
If Gearbox is truly able and willing to take on Duke Nukem, they honestly shouldn't just pick up an ambitious title that has been promised to us for over a decade. They should have just made a quieter little Duke Nukem title to serve as the hero's swan song. Such is my opinion.
Sorry for coming off stand-offish.

I'm not sure if that would be a good idea or not.
