Meh, nothing jumping out as particularly 'must play'.
  • billythekid #2 2 years ago

Apart from, Dire Straits - "Money For Nothing" of course.
  • kinky_mong #3 2 years ago

So in summary, shit, more shit, already available on Rock Band, more shit, will be on Rock Band 3, something you vaguely recognise, song from a good band but one of their weaker songs, even more shit, fretboard wankery that's barely music, the one highlight, lots more shit, etc, etc, repeat to fade.

    For me:

    Offspring - Self Esteem
    Drowining Pool - Bodies

Maybe i can start a mosh pit in my lounge for my next bbq :)...

Ive bought a lot of guitar heroes
Im not buying anymore ive just lost all interest them now
you can only milk a cash cow so much
    just let it die already!
  • AceDongface #7 2 years ago

In Sharp Dressed Man includes the drummer playing like that guy on Youtube, I'm in.

But seriously, Led Zeppelin or GTFO.

I highly expect Rock Band 3's set list to appear online in the next few days. Me thinks they were holding back for Activision to put this out first.
  • StarchildHypocrethes #9 2 years ago

Dire Straits - "Money For Nothing"

    SOLD.
  • Goodfella #10 2 years ago

That's a whole lot of meh apart from Money for Nothing and Bohemian Rhapsody.
  • kangarootoo #11 2 years ago

Not as much heavy rock and metal as I was expecting. Each to their own, and not a critisism, but do acts like Dire Straits or The hives really qualify as warriors of rock?
  • Kelesis #12 2 years ago

Too bad this franchise bores the shit out of me these days. Two years ago I would have bought it day 1 for "2112" alone. Been craving to play that one since GH2. Not too little by all means, sadly just a bit too late. :(
  • kangarootoo #13 2 years ago

AND, not one bit of Disturbed in the whole list.

Their stuff works with this type of game so well, their absence is madness.
  • RobotRocker #14 2 years ago

Nickelback - "How You Remind Me"

If this is not Eurogamer's first minus infinity points review, there is no justice in the world.
  • Boomerang #15 2 years ago

    No Rage Against The Machine?

No Queens of the Stone Age?

And anyone else feel that the jingly-jangly of "Losing my Religion" completely doesn't fit..?
  • StanleyPointLarge #16 2 years ago

Seven Nation Army!!! That is such a simple song (a good song, it doesn't have to be complex to be good). How easy is it going to be to play on easy level?!?!?

Not to mention Jack White plays it using a slide, when's slide guitar hero coming out? Get down with some Seasick Steve.

I've never managed to get into guitar hero as i can play a real guitar, it just seems like relearning the guitar to me. Not that i'm against this, some people want to rock out but aren't interested in learning guitar. I guess that's why Seven Nation Army makes it on there to be fair.
  • SAMagic #17 2 years ago

So, what, the earlier marketing was an attempt to get us psyched for a crazy, Brutal Legend-style odyssey featuring the greatest leaders of rock and metal from the last 40 years ... and this is what we get?

I can just imagine it now. Gene Simmons is like "Ok man, you want to be the saviour of the best music in the world? it's time to rock! It's time to shake the foundations of music! It's time for ... NICKELBACK - HOW YOU REMIND ME!!!!"

    *Sigh.*

There are some good bands in there, and I know it's hard to strike a balance, but when you put some of the greats alongside absolute cack, it's hard to believe that they're honestly trying to appeal to genuine rock fans.
  • Skurmedel #18 2 years ago

A Perfect Circle is great. Some good bands in there, certainly not all "shit" bands, but I think their selection of songs is odd sometimes. Creedence Clearwater have songs more fit for this kind of game, "Heard it Through the Grapevine" for example. Sad to see the obligatory "rock boybands" are present as well,... Fall Out Boy for example.
  • asphaltcowboy #19 2 years ago

Not amazing list... except for Machinehead by BUSH! Oh baby! \o/
  • RobotRocker #20 2 years ago

    Nothing trumps Buckethead's Jordan. Monsterpiece.

The best GH2 song was Push, Push (Lady Lightning). INDISPUTABLE FACT.
  • Skurmedel #21 2 years ago

Hmm and no Iron Maiden is a failure. I hope they are going to do a Iron Maiden edition or something in the future.
  • nickthegun #22 2 years ago

It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta, and my all- Rush mix tape... let's rock!
  • Markusdragon #23 2 years ago

Hm, Activision are definitely targeting their playerbase more carefully, but whoever this game's aimed at, it's just not me.
  • TheLittlestHobo #24 2 years ago

    It's from Activision... no thanks.
  • Yuroko #25 2 years ago

Rabicle: You are officially cool for mentioning Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Home is a great song.
  • ignatiusjreilly #26 2 years ago

whoever this game's aimed at, it's just not me.

It's targeted at Mr Everyman, like most games these days.

It's a real piece of bad luck for us that Mr Everyman is an utterly boring bastard.
  • hardtech #27 2 years ago

Eh, more interesting to me than some other releases of Guitar Hero.....but unless the track listing includes 90 tracks that are must plays I won't be sending any of my money Activisions way
  • rodpad #28 2 years ago

Worth the price alone just for Pantera.
  • Zastai #29 2 years ago

only about 20 songs there that i want to play, and 7 of those are 2112
  • anathema #30 2 years ago

About 20 songs I'd be remotely arsed to have a bash at and most of those I'd only be mildly interested in playing. No Sale.

Here's hoping RB3 blows it out of the water so there's at least one good music game this time round, can't really it see it not doing so with that playlist.
  • KungFuSpoon #31 2 years ago

Everything on that list is either available in Rock Band already and/or bland pop-rock shit.

Sometimes I just wish they'd go back to the roots of the game, remake the original it had the best soundtrack of all of the, not one duff song (not that smash hits crap). Do away with the gimmicks and duels and just focus on making an awesome fun party game to play together. Guitar Hero was never fun to play competitively and it was only tolerable in the first game as that was the only two-player mode available.
  • spudsbuckley #32 2 years ago

    Great track list.

I'll enjoy playing the game while you folks are all busy being too cool for the room.
  • SlippedDiscs_of_Tron #33 2 years ago

Wow, another laundry list of tired, psuedo-alternative bilge. Surely, the inclusion of Nickelback pretty much obliterates any chance of this game finding a place on the shelf of anyone with a working pair of ears.
  • TadejVig #34 2 years ago

  • Eraysor #35 2 years ago

3 Megadeth songs? (Admittedly one of which is already in Rock Band) but sold regardless. A massive improvement on the last couple games for sure (apart from the Nickelbacks and Fallout Boys...)
  • Jonny5Alive7 #36 2 years ago

    Still no Status Quo!

Come on folks - Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Blind Melon, Blue Oyster Cult, CCR, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Edgar Winter, Foreigner, Jane's Addiction, Jethro Tull, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young, Queen, Rolling Stones, Soundgarden, Styx, Twisted Sister and Rush; all classic rock bands.

Also has "Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" - The Dillinger Escape Plan's best tune.

Ah well, if it gets more people to hear the majesty of Rush's "2112" then i guess it's a job well done.

All in the same game that includes Nickelback. NICKELBACK IS NOT ROCK AND/OR ROLL.

Brb, complaining to the ASA that this game should not carry the moniker "Rock"
  • FuzzyDuck #41 2 years ago

Nickleback are turds with amplifiers in my honest opinion (as are some of the other bands listed), but i'm sure the idea is to appeal to a broad demographic.

The metal line up is fairly pants (sizewise)).

  • Nithron #42 2 years ago

    Man, I actually like Nickelback.

I did not realise I was the only one on the planet. What's wrong with me?
  • Pastici #43 2 years ago

"No bands I like therefore the entire list is shit"

  • spudsbuckley #44 2 years ago

"Not enough MySpace bands that only i've heard of"

We get it, you're all so alternative that it hurts.

  • dsmx #45 2 years ago

Nickleback instantly ruins anything it touches. It's an even worse crime than putting all those shitty emo rock songs in world tour a few years back.
  • Goodfella #46 2 years ago

As if Nickleback weren't bad enough, every time I hear Rockstar I picture that annoying, bile inducing advert for sofa's.

So on the one hand we have a bland setlist in GH6, and on the other we have Rock Band 3 with a 200% price markup for Europeans and no drum kit.

    Huh.

Don't have a link? Where was it pasted from? (cos you sure as shit didn't type all that)

    Pics or it didn't happen!
  • Notez #50 2 years ago

Compared to the 1 - 5 playable songs in releases like GH:WT and GH5, this one seems to have many more that might be difficult enough to still be fun. Just might be the first playable GH from Neversoft since GH3 and I'm looking forward to trying out some of the tougher lead guitar tracks in coop with a friend.

RB3 is obviously going to offer a lot more with the pro modes, so I hope they don't screw up the euro release.
  • Goodfella #51 2 years ago

I don't have a link because someone posted it on a games forum without a link and he's not around to ask where he got it from.
  • adofessex #52 2 years ago

There are some great songs, good songs and some terrible songs which is pretty much part and parcel of any rhythmn game, cant say I have bought one loving everything on it. My problem with GH is that it's just not got me wanting to buy it as a game, I think RB3 will be a much more interesting purchase because of Pro mode and my large DLC purchases.
  • bemaniac #53 2 years ago

i have all the ones i want on rock band. This series is quite poor technically and content wise compared to rock band. They need to pick 100 songs i can't get on rock band and then i would need to buy this.
  • Whitster #54 2 years ago

Well it seems that I'm the only RX Bandits fan on EG. It's a shame as the Drums and Riffage in 'It's only another parsec....' are gonna make an awesome track to play, however the rest of the list looks pretty meh. If that is the real RB3 list I'll just get that and download 'Bled to be free' from the RBN instead.
  • GaidenZero #55 2 years ago

That playlist (GH:WoR) is still a huge improvement on World Tour and 5 - more balls to the wall rock!! Slipknot - Psychosocial, Megadeth - Holy Wars, Pantera - I'm Broken, Rammstein, Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody. Many good tunes. I'll probably pick it up on the cheap

    \m/
  • aphexstwin #56 2 years ago

most of that rb3 setlist has appeared in past carnations of gh. arent there any untapped songs anymore?

    and still no fuckin maiden...!!

  • PlugMonkey #58 2 years ago

Wow, that RB3 list is miles better than I was expecting. I really hope that's genuine. I've been been wanting The Beautiful People to drum for a while now.

Also, I've spend the last few months saying "Who the fuck wants to pretend to be a keyboardist in a rock band? Even keyboardists IN rock bands don't want to be the keyboardist in a rcok band."

    Well:
Dire Straits - Walk of Life
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London

    OK! I'll play keyboard!

It'll be interesting to see if The Doors has a bass guitar line, or puts it on the keyboards.
