H.A.W.X. 2 demo this week for PS3, 360

Run up in the sky so deep, it be crying.

A demo for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 will be released for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live this week, Ubisoft has announced.

The Xbox 360 version will be out today, 16th August, and the PS3 version will follow tomorrow, 17th August, in the States. (Update: The European PSN version will of course be out on Wednesday 18th August. Sorry - ironically that oversight was down to jetlag.)

The demo consists of two single-player missions, Interception Course and Seek And Destroy.

In Interception Course, you play a Russian pilot trying to intercept stolen aircraft above the Caucasus Mountains.

In Seek And Destroy, you smash it up as the Yanks, taking off from a carrier under cover of darkness and blowing up smuggling targets in Africa using laser-guided smart bombs. Boom.

Check out our Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 hands-on preview for more on the game, which is on 3rd September for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

    "America F**k yeah"

Jet fighters have been done to death, give us helicopters

Yeah first one was enjoyable enough and it's been slim pickings for flight sims on any platform this generation so looking forward to this.

Not sure if jet fighters have been "done to death" recently but yeah a new chopper game would be class. "Hind" is a great game if you stick it on realistic and can look past the aging graphics. How many games can you have a LAN chopper gunner?

    Worth a download.

The first was nowhere near as polished as the Ace Combat series, but at least they brought something new to the table and I respected them for that.

    @Spunkweazle

Agreed, there should be more helicopter combat games - heck, I remember Thunderhawk on my old Amiga, what a game that was! As Robert Davi said in Die Hard - "Helicopters, right up the ass!"

After error messages, download has just started (800 MB ish). Really liked the first, and now feel spoilt with HAWX 2 and Ace Combat.

Just had a go at the demo. The 1st game was ok so had hopes this one would be better. After 30 mins of play I think they took everything I liked in the 1st game got rid of it and just made poo instead. Won't be adding this one to my Christmas list.

Well, I don't think I will be using the ERS to land or refuel if I get the full game. Seemed more like a hinderance, like it focuses on lining you up and then you have to fly quite a while in a straight line. Missiles locked on to the bombs the enemy was dropping so I stuck to the cannon for that part. I loved bombing though, you controlled a camera with zoom functions. I'm not really sure if I'll get this yet, excluding the fact that the demo had about 6 mini freezes during one playthrough.

    "No PC demo? Lameh!"

Who cares? Surely you're not buying Ubi games on PC?

I just hope they don't have that stupid forced far away camera able that makes me lose orientation

    HAWX2 is limited to 30FPS :(.

HAWX was running at 60fps but couldn't always keep it. Imho they should have left it this way.
