Kirby's Epic Yarn out in EU next year

North America this autumn.

Gorgeous-looking Wii-exclusive 2D side-scrolling platformer Kirby's Epic Yarn will be released in Europe early next year, Nintendo's confirmed.

The game's due out in the US this autumn, so we're getting it late.

The game debtuted at Nintendo's E3 2010 conference in June. It has pretty woollen, patchwork visuals and merry Disney-esque music.

The indomitable Christian Donlan went hands-on for Eurogamer. He gets about, doesn't he?

For f***'s sake Nintendo, STOP DOING THIS. It's not like you've got a "we have to translate the dialogue" excuse with this one BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY DIALOGUE.

EU is a lot more than just the UK you know?

    Thats a disgrace.

This means that when Europe get this, America will be getting a first-party title that Europe will have to wait for again....

Also..NOE have no-idea what Christmas means anymore..it's the time of year gamers by loads of games and parents by them for the kids! What exactly is NOE releasing in Q3/Q4 then? Just Wii Party & Donkey Kong....it's plain lazy, us Wii-owners have to put all our faith in the third-party games then...
  • J0rdan_KZ #5 2 years ago

    Wow, this is a first.

Seriously Nintendo, yet another Q4 where you have nothing outside of a couple of games? Yes, we've had a great, great year, but it'd be nice if we got kicked something. Looks like my 360 and PS3 will get the majority of playing this Christmas.

Calm down folks, Metroid Other M in 3 weeks. Squeee!!!
  • DonnieDarko333 #7 2 years ago

    Good point J0rdan_KZ...

NOE must not see both Move & Kinect as a threat! But seriously...they should! MOVE is already showing that its better then a Wii-Mote with Motionplus..give that a few months and we'll see exactly what that piece of hardware can do! Kinect may just surprise some people and actually be quite a innovative piece!

This is when Nintendo drop the ball..they dont keep the competitive side up! They really need to release the 3DS this year too...but they won't.

Oh and Metroid Other M is September 3rd..we only have 2 first party games to see us through till at least Feb 2011 so far (and i don't count Flingsmash as one of em). It's not good enough! Zelda is definately March onwards...too..

I didn't think this still went on? Why is it so difficult to release it here the same date as the US?
  • erp #9 2 years ago

Looks like I'll be importing then. Thank goodness for Gecko.
  • JahB #10 2 years ago

I don't get this. Nintendo finally come around with an IP that everybody wanted to see back (in stunning fashion no less), and then they shaft a third of their install base...
  • ZeroAX #11 2 years ago

Really Nintendo? The most mainstream game (after wii party which sounds good from the previews I've read) you had gets pushed back to after Christmas?
  • gav082 #12 2 years ago

I too thought these days where behind us, when Sony brought Final Fantasy 7 straight to Europe. I thought Nintendo had finally realised we Europeans like ALL games, and we like them at the SAME TIME, because if they haven't there competitors certainly have.

This is unacceptable in this day and age.
  • reelbigkris #14 2 years ago

I agree with many of the above comments. I've never bought a kirby game - I was enrolled with sega during the great console war - But this looks absolutely amazing. I'll be getting this day one as my wii has allways been a machine to exclusively play super mario galaxy, no more heroes and a boy and his blob...

Will import then :( been waiting for this game for a while, looks great.

    @ TheTingler

I for one DO need things translated from "American" into ENGLISH
  • geeza2020 #17 2 years ago

Disappointing. This wasn't on my radar until i read this article though. That trailer is awesome!
  • scouserfuller9 #18 2 years ago

Thought the moaning would have cut down by now we're so used to seeing this happen :( Being serious though with the UK being the third highest country in selling video games I'd have thought Nintendo would have had the heart to do something to give us our copies earlier.

That Reggie is a man I'm no fan of. Since he's been there the hearts of Nintendo have fallen to the USA as they're often getting games/consoles before Japan now!!
  • TheTingler #19 2 years ago

    @Milky1985: You know exactly what I mean. :) IN-GAME dialogue I mean!

@swissorc: Agreed, but I'm referring to all the extra languages Europe incorporates - which doesn't apply to Kirby's Epic Yarn, because it's a game without much dialogue or story. What text there is in the game will take all of a week to translate.

And besides, if every other company can release games in Europe at the same time as the US, Nintendo certainly can. They just keep on hating Europe. They're (in)famous for it.

I have to agree this is a cruel game nintendo play with region specific this and that and staggered release times. It's curel but after all these years my jaded gamers hand are used to it.
  • Koozer #21 2 years ago

The mos irritating thing about delays for localisation is that they leave the "English" language option in American. They could at least replace all those colors with colours. Just paste everything into Word, change language to UK English and spellcheck away! You could do it in an afternoon for this game.

Disappointing news, but was to be expected.

What's the excuse for the writer unable to spell debuted?
  • geeza2020 #23 2 years ago

Is the Wii region free? Could i just import this from USA and play it on a PAL Wii?
  • FenderMaster #24 2 years ago

another lean Christmas for Wii owners?

Funny... at E3 I thought that this would be an insane Q3-Q4... Metroid Other M, Kirbies Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country 4, Zelda Skward Sword, Epic Mickey, Wii Party for the casuals... but i guess it'll be just like Christmas 2009... a 2D platformer or nothing...

At least it will be better than Christmas 2008 anyway, Wii Music and Animal Crossing 1.12.

Seems Nintendo really aren't that fussed about the Christmas sales period anymore...
  • qwertymz #25 2 years ago

Isn't the reason for delays that it takes longer for something to get accepted under EU law?
  • scartbat #26 2 years ago

Yes it's harsh but we dont have to wait years like we used to back in the day.
Nintendo better look after us with the 3DS.
  • TheTingler #27 2 years ago

@Raining_Upwards: Videogamesplus is my importer of choice. They're fairly cheap, trustworthy, and fast - everything I value in an importer. Friendly too. They're Canadian, not American, so that's probably why. :p

Itīs like Nintendo in Europe is always dropping Acid when they are deciding theese dates. I cant understand why they are the only one that is doing this bull now at days.
  • trip919 #29 2 years ago

The EU getting the old 'shaft-a-roo' once again.
  • Chupakun #30 2 years ago

Has anyone played Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil on the PS2? I was strongly reminded of that game here.
