Scott Pilgrim heads PS Store update

Mafia II demo now available to all.

Sony's revealed all the new gubbins released on the EU PlayStation Store this week.

Side-scrolling beat-em-up Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is your headline game. Eurogamer awarded it a thoroughly enjoyable 7/10.

The Read Dead Redemption Legends and Killers add on went live yesterday, which we've already told you about. It'll set you back £7.99.

A few PlayStation Portable games have been released, too, including the first in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. That'll cost you £20.

And the Mafia II demo is available to all after a 24-hour PlayStation Plus exclusivity period. Game's out on all three platforms on 27th August 2010.

Oh, and this just in: "I've just been given the information about a new addition for PlayStation Plus today; Plus subscribers will have two week's early access to PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap and have a 20% discount on it too. However, if you already own PixelJunk Racers then 2nd Lap is free."

The full update is over on the EU PlayStation blog.

Is there a Demo of Scott Pilgrim?

I love the look, but I always like to make sure before I buy (even with games that are assuredly sublime, like Limbo)

I already got Persona from the US. It's nothing like the newer games though.. didn't like it much. It felt excessively complicated.

The fighting reminds me fondly of Double Dragon on the Gameboy - so it's a yes from me!

Scott Pilgrim is fantastic. Is the soundtrack that good for the majority of the game? It's really very good! It's a definite buy for me.
I played the MafiaII demo also it's pretty fun, I might mess around with the 10 minute free roam aspect to see if it's wortha purchase, gameplay-wise I quite enjoy the fast pace it has, but it's missing something, and I can't quite put my finger on it.

Anyway Scott Pilgrim was great I've got the first level tune stuck in my head...
Gameplaywise it reminded me alot of Castle Crashers, with the whole level up and learning new attacks element, but this seems to offer alot more in that department, but yeah I saw a couple of Mario Parodies in some hidden rooms, really good stuff, the combat is pretty tight and well animated too.

I highly recommend people try this demo. If you like third person games you should look into it. If you like sandbox and RPG type games, then this is certainly worth checking out. I wouldn't normally recommend games, but even as someone who dislikes third person games normally I'd definately suggest people give the demo a go.

Personally disliked the Scott Pilgrim demo, but that's more down to preferance than anything. Just never liked 2D beat 'em ups. I like the graphic style and the 8-bit(ish) music, but the gameplay left me bored after two minutes. Controls weren't incredibly responsive either.

Really liked the Mafia II demo. It seemed to lack polish in the animation departement and the framerate wasn't impressive. However, the world was very detailed, lots of things were destructible (and stayed destruct...ed) and both the voice acting and facial details were fantastic. Looks like a buy for me.

Anyone here tried PJ Racers 2nd lap? Never liked the first one, but is this worth getting?
