Gearbox making Duke Nukem – Report
Playable demo may be released this year.
Borderlands developer Gearbox has picked up where 3D Realms left off on development of Duke Nukem Forever, according to a new report.
A playable demo of the game may even be released later this year, according to Kotaku.
In June last year Gearbox was named as the studio behind spin-off title Duke Begins. This latest rumour puts the release of that game in doubt.
3D Realms went bust in 2009. Publisher Take-Two sued the developer for failing to deliver the game in a reasonable time frame. They settled in May.
Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford told Kotaku "he may be able to better clarify the situation further at this year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle".
While we wait, let's ponder what may be...

I'm all in for this! I think a demo - getting something tangible in front of everybody - is just an all-round win of a thing to do, and look forward to seeing what comes of this, very soon.

Then again: I don't like Rambo, Predator and Steven Seagal so perhaps it's just me.

Heck, why not give Gearbox Half Life Episode 3 as well. At least they'd get it finished and out in my lifetime.
Actually a Duke done in the graphical style of Borderlands would be interesting...

Duke Nukem isn't an action hero, he's a parody of an action hero.

The video is of the unrealeased Duke Nukem Forever, a lot of demo reels appeared when 3D Realms shutdown, demo reels revealing much of the status of the project.
I've learnt not to hold my breath with this game, (after I passed out every consecutive year after 1998) but this is great great news.

but i guess if all the artwork is done and if it runs on unreal 3 or something like that even if only half the level design is finished it should still be a fairly simple job if Gearbox have access to all the source code.
