Batman: Arkham City revealed, dated
Catwoman confirmed?
The sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum has been revealed as Batman: Arkham City.
The game will be released in autumn 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Game Informer website spilled the beans as part of a teaser for an upcoming issue of the magazine.
Of note in the illustrations provided is Catwoman. She stands back-to-back with Batman, with the caped crusader holding her whip. She's also pictured dangling upside, bound in chains.
According to a press release that's just popped through our virtual letterbox: "Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security 'home' for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.
"Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight."

Plus Catwoman will no doubt be more interesting for a coop option over Robin.

My most hyped game for next year by a country mile. The name seems a bit lame but I'm sure WB wanted to give some idea to average Joe that this is the sequel to AA.
I wonder if we're going to get some co-op with Catwoman? Whip to swing as apposed to Bat's zipline? Red eyes for augmented reality like bats? (the x ray specs for the first ar confirmed to be gone, Art directer at Develop) Also 2 face confirmed in pic with bloody Bats.

Loved AA.

I think it's more a sort of Escape From New York style setup, with a big bunch of the city walled up as a prison.
At least, that's what the description sounded like to me.

Your not the only one. I hope there isn't an emphasis on some kind of co-op. The first game was awesome at least partly because of the atmosphere, which would have been ruined if I was forced to play with somebody. It could still be fun, but wouldn't be the same at all.
Co-op in games can be awesome, but it doesn't suit everygame.

I'm expecting an escape and hostage situation, where the inmates have taken over a few blocks.
Also, Robin could be great in it. Don't confuse the awful, terrible, soul destroying movie version of robin. The last few robins in the comics have been excellent, and properly used (for the most part)

- Kinky!
"GI covers have been amazing for a good while now. A couple of years Edge THE magazine for amazing covers but they have really dropped the cool cover quota."
- I have read EDGE since issue one and continue to but GamesTM is much better.
Overall - I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS GAME!

- Wouldn't like to see Robin included (I just can't think of him as being anything other than the camp crusader)
- Damn I think I am going to start the first one again!

I'll be yet another person keeping my eyes on this one.

Yeah, I get what they want with it, it's the sequel to Arkham Asylum, and it's set in the city, but still..
So, Escape from New York with Batman then, I'm in.

The game itself sounds very awesome, Escape From Gotham City! Excellent setting.

Batman should be a huge hulk of a character - also you're missing out on what most people considered easily one of the best games of last year.

Booo.. have to wait another year to play it!

That isn't graffiti, it's the logo for Gotham City Radio.
"Also that red sign in the bottom left of the other picture, below the zepplin?"
Warning signs that the inmates are under surveillance.
Why all the hate for Robin? Just make the character non-playable during the main game and give him a couple of Challenge Rooms.

I'd give her a pounding
