2 million GTA IV Achievements in a day News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

6 May, 2008

Xbox Live bigwig Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has said more than 2 million Achievements were unlocked for Grand Theft Auto IV in just 24 hours, totalling over a whopping 15 million Gamerpoints.

Hryb shared the figures in his latest podcast on his blog where, unsurprisingly, the Xbox Live Activity chart for the week showed GTA IV as the most played game by those signed into the online service.

We're promised many more exciting Xbox 360 GTA IV facts and figures by Hryb in the future.

Later today, or early tomorrow, we should see the UK All Formats Top 40 published, featuring presumably record-breaking sales for the Rockstar game. It will also show us which of the two versions proved most popular.

In the US, vgchartz (served with a pinch of salt) is reporting 2.3 million for 360 and 1.4 million for the PS3 but PS3 hardware seemed to have jumped more following the release.

In the 28 hours I've been playing GTA IV on the 360, I've only managed to earn 35 GPs, mainly because I'm playing through the single player missions only.

Hi Darren. I'm also taking it slowly. Tip for the "Turkey" Achievement: two steps to the left, throw it as fast as you can (back/forth on right stickreaaaaaly fast, like lightning fast!) it works 80% of the time. "Retail Therapy": hang out with Litle Jacob, he digs strip joints and fast food.

edit: typo.

In woolies you can get a 360 plus GTA for £160.

If Sony win this, people are stupider than I thought.

Skooch, np. And it is kinda frustrating. I had so many 2 in a row, trying it without moving. Just do it that way and I guarantee you'll do it.

mkreku, I think you're getting it all wrong. For me and many, Achievements are not a hierarchical thing, it's like a photo album of our ludic life. I do tip/help everybody, so I'm definetly not competing with anyone.

@swam

no such thing as meaningless PR, any PR is good PR

i' m sure you're just annoyed because the PS live servers fell over, and the game causes the machine to lock up......

I liked the achievement for just getting past the credits. A nice little piss take on R*'s part.

Also works if you take two steps to the left then throw it really slowly, 2 steps to the left seems with no aftertouch seems to be the key

Achievement points must be the g@yest thing ever.

OMG the nerve of these Sonybots...

First it may have been reported for PR... you're telling us you're more annoyed because the 360 version is getting some press now for whatever reason? Is that not unbeleivably petty to get annoyed about?

Second this was posted in the 360 section, acheivement articles arent all that rare... so what the F*** are you here complaining for hmmm?

Troll Fanboys are the worst kind... always show up where they dont belong.

+1 Calgon

PS3 owners complains rightly when Xbots trolling in PS3 thread on PS3 unique features, I myself dont troll ..that much, but I hate it when I was wanting to read the console specific article and get to see the usual tired warrings of the Consoles comments!

Thanks re tip for bowling, wonder if it will work as well for PSN's Ten Pin Bowling released today? !-)

I have logged 10 hours + 2 mp matches in GTAIV and have 220 points without really trying. I havent tried bowling yet.
Achievements are fun. But i like getting the hard ones more than racking up easy points from boring or easy kid games.
And unskilled gamers can get a lot of points by playing many hours each day. I would have been tired of gaming if i played every day, so i dont.
